I have started on a Candida Cleanse which includes a strict diet, taking oregano oil as an antifungals and taking probiotics. As well I am doing a daily treatment for my toenail fungus (topically and internally).
My doctor has prescribed me an antidepressant (Celexa) as I am also quite clinically depressed but I am worried if I take it it would counteract the work I am doing with the antifungals. Treating my toenail fungus is a long process (could be for months up to a year). I would like to do both, however I wouldn’t want to if it meant that all the time, effort and $ spent treating the candida and my toenails would be wasted.
For those who may say ask a pharmacist – I ready have and from their perspective they say it shouldn’t effect the antidepressant. However, I am now interested in hearing from those on the other side (natural health professionals and those educated in such) to see if the antidepressant would feed the yeast or make the antifungal work less effective. ‘Regular’ health professionals often seem to think that candida overgrowth may not be an issue or that herbs have no effect, whereas natural health care professionals seem to take things such as candida overgrowth more seriously.
So, any opinions from natural health professionals and those educated in the field would be much appreciated.
And please, no spam! Thank you
Use tea tree oil on your toenail fungus. Get it at walmart. It works.

I’m too lazy to see a doctor. But how can I get rid of it?
If it is fungidali then you should certainly go to the doctor asap as this infection can quickly spread to the heart and lungs and cause a very painful death within hours.
How this helps.

thanks!
In general, topical agents cannot penetrate the nail in order to fight the fungal infection below. Even if the infection is killed off, one must wait for the nail to grow out and be clipped in order to get a normal nail again.
The only "home remedy" I’ve heard that seems to be legitimate is "Tea Tree Oil" or "Vicks Vaporub". You need to thin down the nail and apply the vicks vaporub twice daily for as long as it takes for the nail to grow out (3 – 6 months)

My two big toenails are both infected with a fungus. One nail had to come off and a new nail is only half grown underneath. The other one is now yellow-ish and I have to go back next week to see whether that one also has a fungus. The doctor has told me not to wear nail polish on my toenails anymore because he thinks that’s what ruined my toenails in the first place- the moisture being trapped underneath the nail. Are there any ways to make it look less noticeable besides band-aids? Because it hurts when I wear closed-toe shoes, so I want to wear flip flops but the band-aids always end up coming off! And also, what could I use as an anti-fungal treatment for the rest of my nails so that it doesn’t spread to them?
I want SERIOUS answers. Not "EW". I’m aware that it’s disgusting, I don’t need you to tell me that. Also, the doctor said NOT TO PAINT THEM because that is how they got infected in the first place.
Thank you for all the serious answers.
By the way, I am on an antifungal topical temporarily called "Gordochom" so I am undergoing treatment, but I may get switched to Lamisil if it doesn’t work.
WITH FUNGAL INFECTIONS, JUST LIKE WITH ANY INFECTION YOU WANT TO KEEP IT AS DRY AND CLEAN AS POSSABLE. THE BIGGEST NO NO IS TO PUT ANYTHING ON IT THAT WILL TRAP THE FUNGUS AND GIVE MEDIA TO GROW ON.
IF YOU WANT YOU COULD PUT FOOD COLORING IN THE MEDICATION THAT YOU PAINT ON YOUR TOE. OR YOU COULD DO IT STRAIGHT ON. FOOD COLORING HAS NO MEDIA TO IT, IT IS JUST WATER AND COLOR.
I HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE WITH MY WIFES NAIL.

They really need help. And I told them I would try to help but
I really don’t know of anything to help them. Any help would
be appreciated.
they said they can’t afford to go see doctor
right now.
heres a wierd one but it works-takes a while cuz u need the nail to grow out before u really notice it( year or so)
wash and dry completely
white vinegar toes tops, bottoms and try to get a little under nails as well
when that dries put vicks vapor rub on top and try to get under nails as well do both things everyday
i know it sounds strange but its no joke it worked for my hubby

What is the treatment for curing toenail fungus with vicks
I’ve never heard of using vicks although it would probably make your toes feel good! Try getting a bottle of Tea Tree Oil from Wal-mart or any drugstore. It is very inexpensive and will last you a long time. Using a clean q-tip apply the tea tree oil to affected areas 2-3 times a day. A little goes a long way. Let it air dry before putting on socks or shoes. You will need to do this for at least 30 days or longer. Anytime you treat a fungal infection it can take 1-3 months to cure. Just be patient.

This is a remedy used by Dr.s but can be bought through your Pharmacy…soak in 50% Formaldehyde 50% water mixture for 20 minutes (this is also used to rid those terribly STINKY feet) and after use Tea Tree Oil 2x daily on toe tips..nails and skin around the nails!! Good luck to you..this works great!!

I don’t want to see a doctor for this because i hear the treatment really messes with the liver (it doesn’t need any thing else kickin at it). I just wanted to see if there are any home remedies.
Take tea tree oil and menthol oil in a hot foot bath in a bowl. About 10 drops of each to about 3/4 gallon hot/warm water. soak your feet twice a day. for 2 weeks. this will kill the fungis but it will take a while for the damage that has been done to grow out. While doing this mix a sulotion of tea tree and menthol in a spray bottle and spray your shoes ever time you take them off. try going with out shoes as much as you can. Fungi love warm moist places like your shoes.

I have gone to the doctor and taken the Lamisil that he prescribed but it has not helped was wondering if any one might have any home remedies that might help.
Well, go back to him. There are many other medications.May require a prescription. See a Podiatrist-they specialize in the foot. Oh, by the way, they go to college for ten years to become one.
